Why the YAMAHA XMAX 300 for the Canary Islands
The CB650R is the inline-four naked that nearly everyone gets on with on day one. It is light enough to feel friendly, smooth enough to be unintimidating, and characterful enough to keep an experienced rider engaged. On Gran Canaria it is the bike for the rider who came specifically for the GC-21 switchbacks up to Pico de las Nieves — the four-cylinder character rewards a higher rev range, and the chassis is properly playful. On Tenerife the TF-24 across the spine of the island suits it well. Less ideal as a pure touring tool: no wind protection, modest tank, pillion is possible but not the point. Best as a half-day to full-day mountain bike. Beginners on a full A licence settle into it quickly.
